Countryside Stewardship Open For Applications

The 2018 application window tor countryside stewardship is now open.

As in previous years the Countryside Stewardship scheme is open for business providing a range of financial incentives for land managers to look after the environment through activities such as:

  • Conserving and restoring wildlife habitats
  • Flood risk management
  • Woodland creation and management
  • Encouraging Educational Access
  • Preserving Historic Features

There are three main elements to the scheme:

  • Mid-Tier
  • Higher-Tier
  • Capital Grants

The scheme is competitive and scored against the list of local priorities.

New for 2018 is Countryside Stewardship Offers

Offers is a non-competitive scheme with a simplified application process.  It guarantees acceptance, subject to meeting the requirements of the scheme.

The intention of the scheme is to encourage those farmers for whom Mid-Tier and Higher Tier are too onerous to get back into a stewardship scheme.

Very simply, it is a replacement to Entry Level Stewardship with similar levels of management requirement and payments.
